I am a Communication fresh grad. I don’t want to be the one actually saying this, but I believe I have a very impressive background in events (most especially), marketing, and public relations.

Back at our school, I was a student marketing associate. In a span of nearly three years, I worked on multiple marketing-related projects, events, shoots, and campaigns. I was even one of the people (around 95% of whom are employees) who pioneered significant marketing campaigns and a large-scale institutional event that now happens annually.

On top of this, I also explored freelancing—perhaps I could thank my internship for this one. I was fortunate to have been part of massive productions for corporate events (of well-known brands), local and national music festivals, and the likes. My work usually focuses on artist management, scriptwriting, managing production, stage management, and directing.

Now, I am offered a marketing job in a not-so-huge beauty and wellness brand in Pampanga. I’m honest with the owner that I don’t have a background in beauty and wellness, but I can greatly help them with their marketing and events.

The job is “to strategize for our marketing, execute, and implement.” They also want me to check on how to better improve their services, what I believe they should adopt and adapt for their operations, secure partnerships and collaborations with other brands, and come up with membership opportunities for their SVIPs (same idea with air miles). I would also need to overlook their social media and website management. This is done by another team (an OOH agency), which they want me to collaborate and work with since, as they observed, we have different strategies and things in mind.

They told me that I would not even need to be physically there at all times, depending on the things I’d be working on. Maybe around 2-3 times a week on a regular basis. This varies if there are marketing-related tasks that I would need to do on-site.

WITH EVERYTHING I JUST SAID, and thank you for taking the time to read, what do you think is a great margin for me? I know entry-level is at around 18k-22k. I don’t really want them to feel that I’m demanding, but I don’t think I’m up for an entry-level rate because I believe I can deliver well.

Well, you might think why this is even a question for me since I freelance in events. But there’s a significant difference kasi, eh. In freelancing, especially in events, much faster and more defined kasi ang pacing ng duties and responsibilities. For example, in concerts, depende sa role mo, malalaman mo agad ‘yung duration na need mong i-work out and ‘yung scope or intensity ng trabaho.

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

AND I REALLY AM EXCITED FOR THIS! The team works great. The employer is very much fun to be with. When I pitched a marketing plan on-site, it honestly felt like a family.

The offer is different because it’s more fixed/long-term, which is an entirely new context for me.
