Fainting, leadless pacemaker, ASD, 25 yo male
For the past 3 years my husband has been having fainting episodes at random. Every time we felt like we knew the cause it would change. My husband just had a leadless pacemaker procedure done a few days ago. (We were told that was the only way to stop the fainting) While they were inserting the pacemaker the one in the top right chamber dislodged and went into the left ventricle. They spent 3 hours trying to lasso it out. They found a massive hole that was somehow missed. We’re told you need 5mm on both the top and bottom to sandwich the hole closed or else he will need open heart surgery. His cardiologist asked for a month to research before they present a plan because we’d like to avoid open heart surgery. If anyone has an advice or has been through something similar I’d appreciate any response. We’re feeling a little lost at the moment and don’t know if we should go elsewhere.
