Hello everyone, I have 2 years of experience in dimensional metrology in Brazil, working with calibration, maintenance, and the use of precision measurement instruments. I am interested in pursuing career opportunities in the UK, and I would like to ask which courses or certifications I should consider to improve my chances of securing a position in this field.

Hi everyone,
I’m a Metrology Technician from Brazil with around 2 years of experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory at a nationally recognized company. We are also a direct partner of major brands such as Mitutoyo (including a showroom at our facility), Fluke, Digimess and Gedore.
My daily work involves calibration, evaluation, cleaning and maintenance of dimensional measuring instruments. I perform maintenance on digital and analogue calipers (including surface refinishing when required), micrometers (digital and analogue, including internal 2-point, 3-point and interchangeable types), bore gauges (dial type), dial indicators and test indicators (both 0.01 mm and 0.001 mm), gauge blocks, coating thickness gauges, and digital and analogue height gauges.
I ensure equipment is in proper condition, compliant with international standards and customer-specific requirements, maintaining full traceability and reliability of measurements.
I’m currently looking to relocate to the UK and continue my career in calibration/metrology. I’d really appreciate any guidance on companies that are hiring, especially those that may support visa sponsorship, or any advice on how to break into the field there.
If anyone works in the industry or has been through a similar path, I’d love to hear your experience.
Thanks in advance!
