Hi! My 9 month old has been exclusively breastfeed since birth but because I’ve had a sudden drop in supply (pregnant again), I’m looking to supplement with formula or fully transition to formula. She has refused a bottle before but will drink water in a sippy cup or an open cup. She never liked my previously frozen, stored milk so I stopped pumping/storing and have no stash.
She eats 3 solid meals and 1-2 snack per day in addition to nursing during the day but I know she needs more milk than I’m giving. This afternoon, I tried giving formula for the first time to replace a nursing session but she didn’t drink it. Later, I pumped what I could (not even 0.5 oz) to mix with a small amount of formula to give after her solids dinner but she wouldn’t drink more than a sip or two.
Any tips for how to transition? I wish I had more pumped breastmilk to mix or would be able to produce more. Should I try a bottle bottle again? Mix formula with oatmeal or something else she likes to eat? We received samples of a formula from her peds office but I guess I could try a different brand?
Next time I want to try having my husband feed her the formula but he was busy with our toddler.
