I don’t need advice or anyone to tell me how to “beat the system” or any kind of advice. I want to scream to the high heavens about how scammy door dash is.
I’ve been self-sufficient for years now and have never struggled like I do now with working or finding money. I live in Deep South Louisiana and have been told to my face by HR recruiters that they could fire me because they don’t like the color of my shoes. I lost my job as a vet tech a few months ago because my doctor believed I was belittling her and questioning her protocols when I informed her a patient had been given 2 forms of oral sedation before their appointment.
I started DD to make ends meet because I have been desperate for work after putting in over 250 applications to every place I can think of. I finally got a call back from a smoothie king and was tempted to take the $9 an hour wage but knew it would be a waste of time since my bills equate to around $1600 monthly.
I started really focusing on DD to give myself better stats to receive better orders and secure myself a better financial state temporarily. But I’ve literally gotten the world’s worst orders since becoming platinum. Not only is ever single order taking me 25-40 minutes to complete, but every single one takes me at least 20 minutes outside of a “hot spot.” Not to mention I’ve been doing the math on the base pay for their “guaranteed hourly rate.” They’re not even paying me correctly, and when I called support to ask them about it literally showed them how their math on it is incorrect, they blew me off and told me they would escalate it but never did.
I’m so angry and frustrated because today I’ve been out for 3 hours and have made a measly $12. I’ve actually spent more in gas because half the time I spent driving back into zones to even be able to receive offers.
I also can’t move between apps because my area has almost no other apps in use at the time. I’m in the waiting list for everything except Uber, and that seem to be worse. Asking me to earn $6 for a 45 minute trip.
I’m exhausted and tired and don’t know what to do anymore. This is the first time in my life I face actual eviction because I don’t know what else to do financial wise, and DD is making my mental health so bad lately with all of these garbage orders because the one gig I had as a fall back isn’t even lucrative anymore. What is everyone doing to combat this? I’m becoming desperate..
