Advice on publishing a D&D Book

Hello there

I‘m looking for advice on how to proceed with my ongoing project.
I‘m writing a comprehensive dark fantasy campaign setting for D&D 5e (2024). I‘ve come a long way from just messing about with some mapping tools, to writing a full on compendium.
I started by designing the final book on Homebrewery, but quickly realised it wasn‘t the tool for a job this big. Then tried Affinity Publisher, which I have zero experience in.
Now I‘ve been looking around for how publishing something like this actually works. Gemini gave some advice, but I would rather hear from people with actual experience.
This project means a lot to me. I‘ve poured a lot of time and effort into already and I don‘t want to get burnt out.

Here are just some of the questions I have: What publishers do I contact? What do these publishers need from me? What might be hidden costs here? What are the traditional steps for this kind of book specifically? Do I need legal advice? Do I have to provide artwork? Do I cover costs upfront? All that stuff and probably so much more…

Help a noob out :)

Thanks in advance if you took the time to read this and I hope I can get some advice where this path leads next.

Cheers!
