FYI context: I'm based in Europe, where layoffs are generally much harder legally and no layoffs have happened in the org I'd be joining.

I originally applied for a Linux Sys Eng position at AWS, but it was closed before my first interview. I was then offered the chance to interview for CSE II instead, got an offer, and I would be starting in 90 days.
My plan is to take the CSE II role and use it as a stepping stone for an internal transfer to a Linux Sys Eng position, they are apparently building up a lot of headcount right now. I'm coming in with 3 years of experience as a sys engineer.

My questions:
- Is an internal transfer from CSE II to a Linux Sys Eng role actually feasible? Or is CSE more of a dead end role within AWS, from which I can't easily transition?
- How long should I realistically plan for before making that move?

Any insight from people who've navigated internal transfers at AWS (especially from CSE) would be hugely appreciated!

Hi, I have two offers at hand after my Masters.

One is at a unknown German mid-sized company as a Cloud Engineer (standard Terraform and AWS stuff) where I would build and maintain Infra.

The other one at AWS as a Cloud Support Engineer. My concern here is that I am not actively building but I would help investigate why services do not work perfectly in the new region (under the hood) and could likely take on some further responsibilities + the AWS brand.

Which one would you take to set me up for my future Career? (I have already worked part time for 2 years in an Infra role during my Masters degree).
