I will be applying this cycle, but graduating in the Summer. I am trying to decide which activities to pursue during my gap year. Is it important to pursue something beyond a clinical job (showing productivity), such as research pubs/conferences?

If so, what is a good way to find research to do in a gap year? I feel that I am in a weird place, where it is hard to get into a university lab when I am graduating.
