Film Nerd Question for Lost Boys

Saw Lost Boys this week and loved it.

One set detail I really loved: When Shoshana Bean goes to work in the video store, all the movies displayed are period accurate new releases for summer 1987. That is, someone cared enough to look up what would have been on the shelves at that time and not simply just google "'80s Movies."

I was in the front mezzanine, so I couldn't make out all the boxes. I did recognize The Mosquito Coast and Good Morning, Vietnam.

Did anyone else catch the other titles? I'm just curious.

Lost Boys is awesome! But the Palace Theatre sucks.

I saw Lost Boys last night and loved it. Blown away by the vocal harmonies and the stagecraft. Go see it!

Having said that, I found the Palace Theatre set up quite unpleasant. The staff made a big deal about how you have to scan a QR code to place a drink order and you could not do it in person. I hate doing that, but my lady wanted a souvenir cup (she collects them). The palace also blocks cell service, so you need to log in to their WiFi and sign up for marketing texts to place an order. And once you do order, your drink is just put on a table, with no staff checking that you got the right thing. There’s nothing to stop you from walking up and taking someone’s expensive cocktail.

While they allow you to buy merch in person, there’s only one booth and the line gets quite long. You can order ahead online, but you then get automatically charged for a $3 tote bag. I just wanted my magnet (I collect those). While I was debating this, my girlfriend texted me that on the mezzanine level, there was no merch line and you could buy drinks at the bar like a normal theatre.

The staff on the mezz level could not have been nicer. A completely different experience than downstairs. Got my fun lenticular magnet without having to buy a tote.

In conclusion: Lost Boys is awesome, get your drinks and merch upstairs.
