so for the past 2-3 weeks, my girlfriend’s cat (6months old) has been pooing/peeing outside of his litter-box, and we do not know why.
Methods we’ve tried to get him to stop:
Pheromone Spray
Rubbing his face in his own pee (this was like a last ditch effort type thing we are NOT abusive)
Putting nail polish remover (acetone) on the floor to try and discourage the behaviour
Moving the litter box
Cleaning the litter box more often (we don’t leave his shit in there we clean it when it needs to be cleaned)
His litter box isnt small its sized nicely for him
All these methods we have tried but to no avail
Alongside this, my girlfriend went on a holiday for 4 days and this cat was completely fine its like the behaviour never existed he pooped in his litterbox, peed in his litterbox, nothing outside of it at all.
However, as soon as my girlfriend got back from her trip he started to vomit and have diarrhoea on her floor.
Notes:
my girlfriend does have 2 other cats, but they spend most of their daytime outside and only oneof them can go out at night
This new cat poops and pisses in a specific spot, its a corner in her room that sits right next to the door.
We haven’t gone to the vet yet, but we’re just wondering if theres any other methods we can try before going to the vet.
This cat ONLY pees and poops in her room.
