Hi! I’m going to be attending CMU in the fall as a first year. Today we got our dorm selection application. I am wondering if each residence has single gender floors. I plan to rank Scobell, but tbh I don’t really like it too much and I don’t even know if I’ll get it because I’m sure a lot of other girls will be ranking it too.

Thanks!

I plan to study chemE, although I may switch to MSE this fall at CMU. What is something you wish you had done or wish you had known before going to CMU?

Also, if anyone is studying MSE, about how many students are in each graduating class? I know for chemE it’s about 50, and for MSE I heard it was around 20. Is that true?

Also, are there lots of opportunities for jobs and clubs for MSE students? I know the major is much more niche than chemE, but I feel like it’s genuinely interesting to me, especially since I want to do a minor in additive manufacturing.

Finally, is a minor in AM good? Does it give lots of opportunities? Can anyone pursuing it tell me a bit about your experience (what you’re learning in classes, why you are pursuing it, what you hope to gain out of it, etc.)?

Thank you!

I have never played a sport on a team before because the attire is too revealing for my religion. I want to play a sport in college (for fun; maybe volleyball, but I am open to other sports), so I am wondering whether there are any girls-only sports teams at Carnegie Mellon with female-only audiences. This could be a casual club too; I know the recreational club team probably doesn’t work like that. Please let me know because team sports are truly something I have been wanting to do but haven’t been able to. If I’m on a girls-only team, I can dress however I wish, but if there are men in the audience then I can’t. Thanks!
