Hello all,
42M on Atorvastatin 20mg for a while due to elevated cholesterol and really high triglycerides. It’s worked great. Lp(a) of <8.5, cholesterol of 118, triglycerides at 92, LDL 64, and Cholesterol/HDL ratio of 3.3.

However I had a CT Angio that showed some punctate and non calcified plaque in a couple arteries. It wasn’t terrible, and my calcium score is only a 9, but I’ve been on the Atorvastatin for 7 years and my doc said the plaque should be calcified. He thinks I’d respond better to Rosuvastatin.

He wants me to cold turkey quit the Atorvastatin for 7 days because it gave me horrible constipation, at which point I’ll see if there were any other symptoms that get better before starting the 20mg of Rosuvastatin.

I’m a little nervous because I react extremely to medication. Is it okay to just quit the 20mg Atorv and start the 20mg Rosuv without tapering? Also will my numbers rebound heavily in that time?

Thanks in advance for any input.
