Pipeline/Oil and Gas Politics

This is a poll from Angus Reid released today. In general, Canadians right now seem strongly in favour of pipelines and more oil and gas expansion, while climate change and environmental concerns have fallen to the back burner, which is why Carney has been able to get away with dismantling all of our environmental policies. What can we do to convince people to care about climate change again?

International democracy rankings continue to rank Canada as one of the strongest democracies in the world, with the EIU's latest update having Canada as the 9th strongest democracy in the world, but I want to hear from people who actually live in Canada on what they think democracy in Canada, do you agree with the international rankings? Are there things that could be improved?

I live in Toronto and we have had a big progressive majority in city council since 2022 and a progressive mayor since 2023, but I'm struggling to see what they've managed to accomplish so far. With municipal elections in Ontario coming up in October 2026, I haven't really noticed progressive priorities being advanced in a significant way, despite the huge majority. Along with Doug Ford continuing to act as the evil mayor of Toronto and constantly overruling our council and restructuring things in Toronto without our consent. What can our local governments actually do?

https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en/votes/45/1/106 you can see it here, all 6 NDP MP's voted yes on giving the liberals a majority in all the committees and concentrating power, I don't understand why they did this. The liberals already had all the votes they needed; none of the NDP MP's even participated in debate to justify why they voted the way they did.
