The central library has become a breeding ground both metaphorically and literally. A breeding ground for selfish people who have no awareness of their surroundings.

In the last one year that I've spent in this institute, I've availed the library services quite a lot of times. The swathes of people sitting around, talking loudly, either on the phone or amongst themselves without any regard for the people around them is honestly embarrassing.

Another thing that deeply infuriates me is the culture of annexing desks in the library for days at a time. More often than not, the library isn't too crowded but even then it's a pain in the ass to find a vacant cubicle because all of them seem occupied by abandoned laptops, piles of textbooks or even personal belongings.

What people fail to understand is that following the rules of the library would not just help others but also them in finding a cubicle for themselves when they need it the most.

I hope we, as a student community can come up with a solution that ensures some accountability from all those who avail the library services.
