I bought what was described as an ovolo scribe, a router bit I intended to use to make finger pulls in drawer fronts, it looks like the attached image. The wood is 18mm birch ply.
Using this router bit in my router table has felt super sketchy. I can’t “sneak up” on the Final Cut because the way it is designed, it does it all in one go.
I need to start the cut 1/3 into the drawer front and exit at 1/3, so the finger pull doesn’t extend the entire width of the drawer.
Is there a less sketchy way to use this on the router table? Anytime I try it just sends the drawer front flying. (I am using the starting pin).
I’ve considered making some sort of complicated jig that holds everything more rigidly but I don’t know if I’m being stupid and potentially wasting my time.
Any advice would be appreciated!
