CGT on pre-1985 assets makes the budget changes worth it

Seen a lot of angry people the last few days, and many of their points are valid. Grandfathering negative gearing, the impact on shares investing, all valid.

But what makes it worth it is the scrapping of the longtime pre-1985 exemption.

Us young people are getting fucked by our economy. It’s time for older people who bought their investment properties on 3x their salary finally pay their fair share of tax.

Unlike now where to buy a house in this economy requires a whole lot more than 3x your salary.
