Need some advice

Replay codes: 4ZH8B6 and KZ5H68.

I play on console and both of these are quick play games before I go into ranked. Lately I’ve realized I’ve been too focused on securing kills, and because of that I’ve been ignoring my own game sense and overall positioning. I’m trying to fix that before I start playing competitive more seriously.

In these games I played Sierra in one match and Tracer in the other. What I’m noticing is that I tend to over-prioritize getting eliminations instead of understanding the fight itself. I’ll take fights just to try and secure a kill, even when it might not be the right time or position to engage. That ends up putting me out of place, or I get punished for overextending.

What I really need help with is improving my decision-making around engagements. I want to learn when it’s actually worth going in, and when I should back out and reset. I also want to get better at positioning so I’m not constantly forcing fights from bad angles or unsafe spots.

For Tracer, I notice I sometimes burn my blinks just to force kills instead of using them for controlled pressure and escape routes. For Sierra, I feel like I should be focusing more on pressure, timing, and helping create space instead of chasing kills directly.

Overall, I’m not trying to rely on mechanics right now. I want to build better habits, better awareness, and better game sense so I can be more consistent when I hit ranked. Any feedback or pointers would really help me improve.
