Euthanasia Cost for a Senior Disabled Dog for a Proper Goodbye
Hello, I wanted to ask if anyone is willing to share how much they paid for euthanasia services when they went through that heartbreaking process.
My German Shepherd has DM and is about to be 10 yrs old in two weeks.
He was officially diagnosed with the disease in April 2025. He is paralyzed from his hind legs since August 2025 and his front legs are slowly failing him now. He's been able to use a wheelchair to get mobility, but with weak front legs, it's a matter of time before he's fully immobile.
I have done everything I can for him and made whatever accommodations necessary to provide him the best life possible.
Lately, he's been having digestive issues, mainly due to not being able to walk after his meals. I took him to the vet where his blood work indicated anemia with very low bone marrow. Pretty much, this horrible neurological disease is taking its toll on him.
I asked my vet how much the end of life services are and he informed me it's $450.00.
Whenever I look at my dog's beautiful eyes, I can't imagine putting him to sleep, but I know he's suffering. I don't believe it is time yet, but I know I need to make those arrangements soon.
Does anyone have any recommendations of how much you paid for those services? Are there more affordable but dignified options from other vets?
I was quoted $85 over in Juarez but I really don't want to go through that option.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
