Has anybody launched an AI Receptionist for a client that hasn't pissed off every customer that talks to it?

I look through this sub all the time and try basically every agent I come across and I'm dumbfounded at how atrocious most of these agents are. Like they aren't even remotely production ready.

Most of them get stuck in loops, sound super annoying, and fail on like 50% of calls.

I understand the hype here has attracted a lot of "vibe-coders" looking to make a quick buck but where is the foresight?

Do these people really expect to get even a single sale, or if they do get a single sale, do they expect their clients to continue paying and not demand their money back for the "AI receptionist" that is failing on every other call and pissing off all of their customers?

For those who have actually built a well thought-out, fleshed-out, airtight solution: Any complaints you didn't expect to get after your first client?

Is setting up an AI receptionist for your business not an air tight, perfect solution for missed calls/after hours calls?

I know a real person is better, at least most of the time, but AI Receptionists are a solution that check basically every box the way I see it.

  • They can handle simple inbound phone calls
  • They can schedule reliably (if set up correctly)
    • I'll be honest you can't set this up on your own without very serious time dedication
  • Most businesses would never hire a second receptionist to handle after hours calls and missed calls during business hours
  • They're on 24/7
  • Inbound phone leads are the highest converting types of leads out there
    • So making sure you never miss one is a no-brainer right?
  • Many, many more great reasons to set one up.

I'm looking for honest input/feedback here. What good reason do you have NOT to use an AI receptionist. I want to make sure I'm not missing a glaringly obvious detail/fact.

Yes I built it, yes I want to sell it. Would you actually use it? I have a really nice dashboard for it as well that auto populates and immediately tells you what the call consists of, if the caller should be called back, how urgent it is, etc.
