I'm so sick and tired of people acting like the title of the show being "Miraculous Tales of Ladybug AND Chat Noir" changes the fact that Marinette is the THEE main character. I don't mean it in a way to slander Adrien. It's just facts. Everyone is acting as if the sixth season or the past three have "sidelined" him and that they're "no longer" partners/equals.
They NEVER were. If you go back to S1 and go through all the seasons, you'd know Chat Noir has been playing the same role from the jump. A lot of you are recalling things from memories of your childhood of the show where you saw them as equals. He's always been the sacrifice. Handing himself over so Ladybug could save the day. Sometimes, he played a minor role in the episodes so she could shine.
Examples: Syren, Miracle Queen, Chat Blanc, Optigami, Evolution, Simon Says, etc.
You can say they're "suddenly" favouring Marinette and putting her on a pedestal. But the truth is, the show hasn't really changed all that much in regards to their partnership, if you can even call it that. Chat Noir was nowhere to be seen when Master Fu was preparing Ladybug for the role of the guardian, informing her of the full potential of the miraculous, teaching her the history, etc. Chat Noir is just there for name's sake.
The argument that his dad was the villain falls flat cause Adrien was never fully present nor had a major role to play when those in-between fights with Hawmoth happened. The last one he did was Heroe's Day Pt2, and that's it. It's annoying that they try to make them seem like equals cause of the miraculous they have, but truth is, Marinette is the writer's golden child. They will always make her the point of discussion. She will always be at the forefront of the rescue. She'll always be the one to take credit. I mean, look at how absent Chat Noir was in the final battle, whilst Ladybug fought Monarch and became a bigger hero.
It sucks for Adrien as a character, but it's just always been like this. Season 3 onwards just weren't shy to hide this favouritism between the characters. Adrien is a main character, but he can't be THEE main character that Marinette is.
