Lifetime is unsanitary, esp the Sauna in dumbo

I really think lifetime, at least the NYC gyms, needs to do a thorough cleaning and evaluate their standards on sanitation. I barely ever see anyone cleaning the gym when I’m there. Every time I enter the sauna I feel worse when I leave because I’ve been in there breathing all the dust that’s collected under the slats that nobody can vacuum out. This is particularly egregious in the DUMBO gym because the sauna has these wide slats that are apparently just stuck to the floor? And hair and dust and whatever get on the floor and there’s no way to clean it out. I honestly feel like that’s terrible for your health, to be in a dirty dusty sauna. I just can’t believe they designed it that way. I went to the midtown gym recently and it was also terrible, bathrooms in disarray, dirty scuffs on the floors, etc. really wish they would place more value in cleanliness. ): otherwise I really like the classes.

I know from past posts around here the Auk mini is basically considered overpriced for what you get, but for me it makes up in aesthetics. I’ve been seeing ads for the auk mini 2 so I wanted to ask here:

  1. my auk mini often gets mold on the coconut coir— anyone have suggestions for what to do about that? If you have the auk mini, do you also have the mold problem I have?

The auk website says to use cinnamon powder, which I do. It seems like a design issue to me.

  1. If you have the mini2, does it seem like they solved the mold issue?

Pictured: my auk mini 1, after replanting bc the coconut coir was full of mold.
