Current Cybersecurity job Market, time for a career path change?
Hi everyone, I just need to vent, really. After a company wide layoffs based on the company's financial restructuring, and yes, I got affected. They don't officially have a Cybersec position anymore. Anyway, after 6+ months looking for a position (20+ years of experience, formal and Certs training, Masters, OPS, Cybersec, etc. I can't find or better yet, I will call it the market, is not allowing me to land a decent opportunity/next challenge. What I've seen is a lot of ghosting (even after they initiate the conversation, even after several calls and interviews with hiring managers), that's not professional at all! (I posted about this in my weekly LinkedIn post).
I had a couple of managers with a not so good approach on what they were posting vs. what they expressed in the video interview.
I'm looking now to start Uber for gaining fast income, studying for my Certify Persoal Trainer (love the workouts) as a plan B. But I am also still studying for my CISSP, is it worth it? At this point, maybe I need to focus on something else and have a career path change. What do you think? What are you seeing in your side?
Have a great weekend and stay cybersafe!
