It’s been hard trying to look for the nice dolls that interest you and trying to find them at reasonable prices. I’ve checked Mattel’s website but everything is sold out, but other than that, I’ve noticed the original prices, even them being displayed in CAD. Whenever I look for Skullectors like the Nightmare Before Christmas, Gremlins, Drama Reel, etc. they’re always so overpriced compared to its original retail price. For example, The Nightmare Before Christmas was originally retailed at $90.00 CAD on the Mattel website, at least from what I can see, I’m not sure if that’s correct or not, but now, trying to get them, they go for up to $700 or more, same with the Gremlins one, going up to $1,000 or more, the cheapest one I recently saw went for $700. So far, I’ve been able to buy The Creature from the Black Lagoon, but it was $215, which is honestly not bad compared to a bunch of other prices I’ve seen.

I know this might seem like a stupid question or maybe I’m overthinking this, but I’m wondering if I should collect Monster High dolls. I had some Monster High dolls as a kid, but gave them away at some point, and now I’m wondering if I should collect them. For my birthday, I got a Wednesday Rave’n Dance doll, it was not something I asked for, but I do like it. I tend to overthink things and question the meaning of things, but I’m wondering if I do collect, is it a waste of money? What am I going to really do with these dolls? Should I only collect some? Should I use my money for something else? But then again, what would be considered a better use of my money? Omen is meant to be spent, but I’m kind of worried I might get bored or that I would be making a mistake for collecting dolls. I do really like the Nightmare Before Christmas dolls, The Corpse Bride, Hocus Pocus, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Drama Reel dolls the most. If I did collect, I’m debating whether to get only certain ones, or try and get every doll ever made, sort of, (not Gen 2 they’re ugly, and potentially not Gen 3, it’s hit and miss with some of them). I’ve also maybe wanted to customize a doll, but would try and get one from a thrift store and not an expensive one that’s in good condition. I know this seems weird/stupid, but this is my weird thought process into a new hobby potentially.

I’ve been thinking about collecting, but also wonder what others think. I might collect only specific dolls like the ones that I like the most because I guess it would seem maybe pointless to buy something I don’t like that much, but I do like some of the G3 dolls. I think I definitely prefer G1 though and like the simple faces or colours scheme/aesthetic more than G3. G3 seems marketed towards younger kids more than G1 or just looks more child-like with the colour palettes and designs. I got Rave’N dance Wednesday for my birthday as a surprise and have been thinking about whether or not to get other Wednesday characters or some of the drama reel dolls, as they are some of my favourite looking ones, specifically Lagoona. What are your thoughts? Do you only collect specific dolls?
