So ai started hrt in october of 2025, I was prescribed 10mg/5ml of estradiol valerate every 7 days monotherapy. I noticed that come day 5 I was having terrible dips in my energy and mood as well as huge spikes in dysphoria, so after reading a bit online I saw a lot of girls saying either splitting the dose into twice a week, or switching to a 5 day regimen helps with this. since I was only prescribed enough needles for one shot a week I opted for every 5 days full dose, and it definitely got rid of the low mood and dysphoria.
when I went back for my check up I informed the doctor of this and they said they have to way to test for risk of blood cots doing a 5 day schedule? So she suggested switching to cypionate since it has a longer half life. So she prescribed 5mg/0.3ml every 7 days.
initially I had troubles getting the script filled, troubles with a new insurance, so I continued with the valerate in the mean time as I had plenty stocked up. but i had switched back to every 7 days for a couple weeks and those couple weeks were not good, I wound up rage quitting my job, (I feel justified in my reasons but think if I hadn’t been so out whack hormonally I would’ve toughed it out and looked for something better or addressed the problems with hr instead of putting me in the terrible position of being unemployed.) irrelevant i guess. but that hormonal fluctuation kind if freaked me out, I’m currently back to taking EV every 5 days and afraid to switch to the cypionate and risk having adverse effects on my mood while my levels even out on the cypionate, cause my understanding is that it takes a couple doses to actually build up in your system.
TLDR: does anyone have experience switching? was there an adjustment period? was it bad? am I just being silly with these anxieties? also I forgot to mention that they did not do bloodwork when I went in because they switched the medication so no idea what my levels were at.
any advice for experience welcom
