"This is the place, then?" Vivienne surveyed the area, Yuzaki and the man following behind.

"Indeed. This was where I woke up, roughly 3 days ago."

The place in question was a shore near the edge of a town. Vivienne scanned the surroundings, her sharp eyes darting around the area.

The man walked closer to where the water met the sand. "This spot was the exact spot I woke up on. Zero memory of anything that happened prior, including the events that led to this... predicament," he explained.

Vivienne crouches down quietly. She continues to analyze, looking for hidden objects she may have missed.

"Aha! I found something!" She digs out what looks to be a journal of some kind. Perhaps a log book.

"What? How did I miss that? I was certain I found everything in my vicinity..." The man ponders for a moment. Could it have been buried under the sand when he gained consciousness? That was the most logical event that could have happened. But was he really that careless not to check for anything buried around him? Nevertheless... a clue is a clue, and he should not dwell on such trivial matters.

However, the man is instantly snapped out of his thoughts by the commotion happening in front of him.

"Mademoiselle, get down!"

As he looks up, he sees Yuzaki grab Vivienne to safety—away from a large, horrifying entity.

"What?! A caustic creature?!? Where did it even come from?!"

The man looks horrified. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!"

Vivienne looks to him as she brushes herself off. "Oh, it's a creature mutated due to large amounts of concentrated caustic energ—"

"We don't have time for explanations right now!" Yuzaki interjected. "If we don't get to safety, we might—ah!"

The creature, which resembled a large crab, started charging at them, snapping its claws. Thankfully, they manage to dodge in time.

The man looks up, thinking fast. He has to do something! They can't keep dodging forever, nor can they outrun this monster.

He looks at Vivienne and Yuzaki, and a sudden urge of protectiveness washes over him. He may not remember a lot... but he knows he has to be the one to protect those younger and weaker than himself. Even if that was a foolish choice.

"You two... go. I'll try and hold this crab back off."

"Wha—? Are you crazy?! Get down, you idiot! You're not some kind of stupid hero!"

He simply brushes Vivienne's comment aside, and faces the crab. And then... his hands begin to glow.

"Monsieur, meet my loyal maid, Yuzaki." Vivienne gestures to a girl with purple hair styled into twintails and a peculiar eyepatch. She nodded silently without a word.

"So she shall accompany us, then?" The man looks between the two, still skeptical. This maid looked no older than the already young detective he was working with.

"Oui. Now, carrying on with what you were saying... you were telling me about the rest of the details you remember?"

"Ah, yes. It's odd, really. I can't recall any events before I woke up... not even my name, or where I come from," the man said, unsure of himself.

"Ah, ah, but where did you wake up?"

"Oh? It was... near the shore, actually."

Vivienne grins. "Aha! There's our clue! You could have very well washed up here!" She looks pleased to have it figured out. "Perhaps you came from a different island, arriving here only when your boat crashed nearby! What do you think, Yuzie? You're good with islands. Do you think that's plausible?"

Yuzaki stayed silent.

Vivienne chuckled. "Merely a jest." She turned back to the man. "What do you say, Monsieur? Let's go back to the place you woke up. There may be a clue there. Like a dropped belonging or a piece of the boat you were on."

The man silently thinks to himself. He's still quite skeptical about the ability of this childish detective, but he figured he had nothing to lose, anyway.

"Very well. Let's go back. There is indeed a high chance I left something there after I woke up."

"I don't exactly understand how I got here myself," the man said. "I just... woke up here with no recollection of my name or where I am."

"An interesting case indeed! Well, you've come to the right place, monsieur! I revel in extraordinary cases such as this!" The orange-haired girl, who introduced herself as Vivienne, ecstatically exclaimed.

The man looks at her for a moment. "...Excuse me, but you're the detective of this establishment? I assumed you were some kind of assistant."

Vivienne chuckled. "Non, non, I am the detective! And I shall introduce you to my own assistant soon enough! But for now... why not tell me everything else you remember?"

"You barely look old enough to drink... but very well. I shall humor you for now. After all, they said you were one of the finest detectives in these parts, especially skilled in solving supernatural cases." He pauses for a moment to think. "If you are truly the skilled detective that people say you are, then let's prove it."

April 20 is Sebastian's Birthday!!

He remembers yet another memory of his mysterious past.

The memory is of... his fellow explorers, surprising him on his birthday.

At that time... he even forgot his own birthday.

He remembered that he felt emotional during that time.

...

The same happens with his new group.

Honestly, he doesn't even know how they found out when his birthday is. He himself forgot it when he lost his memories.

That is... unless that orange-haired detective girl found more details about his past.

He allows himself to smile once more. Perhaps the resurfacing memories from this event is a gift in its own way.

April 14 is Hoarfrost's Birthday!!

From Hoarfrost's diary:

"It's my birthday again... and now I'm, what, a hundred and sixty-something years? Time really flies... it just felt like it was my birthday last month."

"Of course, I should get out of my room and stop writing on this journal. I can't afford to miss out on Valentine's cake. He's surprisingly good at baking."

"I still remember those days, of course. With Aree and the rest of them... I remember, we were a really tight-knit group. Aree and the others felt as much of a family to me as my brother..."

"Speaking of my brother... well, I don't know what to say. He's been dead for a long time now. But I remember my early birthdays, when he'd give me an entire apple as a present. I could hardly even lift an apple back then, it was like twice my size... but now I can carry it with one hand."

"I suppose I should go now. Aree's grandson's daughter seemed particularly excited. Maybe she has a surprise to show me?"
