Friends, I think I need some help. We’re in the middle of the 4 month sleep regression. Baby will be 5 months in 2 days. For the past two weeks, she’s been waking every 45 minutes from bedtime til midnight and then giving a stretch til about 3 am when I feed her. Sometimes she’ll stay down after that, sometimes she’s up again at 5. Tonight it’s been every 45 minutes with no break, it’s currently 3:30 am. I did not want to sleep train but I think we may be there.
The issue is, baby goes to daycare 3-4 days a week. Everything I see says I need to figure out day sleep first to sleep train. We have a good schedule at home. DWT 7:30 am, ww are 2/2/2/2.5 ish. 3 naps at home. Bedtime usually 7:15/7:30 pm. I extend her first two naps via contact as she wakes after 30/45 mins, so first two naps are 1.5 hours each and last nap is 30 mins. At daycare her naps are 30-50 minutes tops because they don’t extend them and I don’t expect them to. Her wake windows are shorter, usually around 90 minutes. She takes 3-4 naps at daycare. They put her down when she seems tired.
Right now she is rocked to sleep with a pacifier. We transfer her fully asleep. When she wakes, my husband does cribside comforting like shush and pat but I’ll admit I’m lazy and I just pick her up and give her the paci, and rock her back to sleep.
Can we sleep train if baby goes to daycare and we don’t have a perfect schedule there? Where would we start in our situation?? Can we keep a night feed? Thank you for any and all suggestions!
