I have made it thru the hardest parts (hopefully!) of this journey…DMX to expanders, chemo, radiation, and am just now finally starting to adjust to hormone therapy (a whole ‘nother story lol). Been a long hard road, as all of you know, but I’m so very blessed and grateful. I am scheduled for DIEP surgery on August 5. I am definitely a little concerned about the recovery, but hoping and praying for the best. My mom and I have a tradition of taking a short mother-daughter trip each year. Last year we went to Jamaica about 7 weeks after my DMX and right before I started chemo. This year we want to go to Aruba. She is suggesting Oct 1-5, which would be right around 8 weeks after my DIEP. Will this be enough time to heal and travel and feel like myself enough to enjoy swimming in the pool and beach and exploring a bit? My PS said that some people found the DIEP recovery easier than DMX and others find it harder. How long do you think I should give myself? Thanks!!
