In Need of Opinions: Acid Reflux/GERD

Hello Everyone,

I need some opinions on wether, if I have possible GERD/Acid Reflux and possibly treatment . This post might be a bit of a hot mess, but I'll do my best to organize it. I am a collegiate athlete, and four years ago, while in high school, I was attempting to gain weight for athletics. Being young and dumb, I started eating an entire box of Mac and Cheese right before bed. While this did work, I developed a deep, hoarse burp from the gut. Sometimes, if I ate to much, my stomach would feel like I was about to throw up. Once, I could burp, I would be completely fine. This continued for the last four years, and I am in college now. I have switched to better eating habits, but the symptoms still happen. I'll attempt to make a list of all the different things I have experimented with that have helped it.

1: I have these deep burps all throughout the day now, they used to only take place after I ate.

2: If I don't go all day without eating, then I eat a meal, I will have constant deep from the gut burps, a major stomach ache, and a swollen stomach.

3: If I eat to late in the evening, I will get heartburn and be possibly nauseous the next morning.

4: I have only thrown up twice from this (both in last 6 months), and heartburn has not been more than 8-10 times.

5: I usually just treat it with some sort of anti-acid tablet. However, I tried to stay off of them for a while to see, if I could self cure a bit and that did not work and that lead to me throwing up one of the times.

6: I have discussed this with my primary care physician, and he believes once I stop trying to maintain and gain a little bit of weight, that it will calm down.

So, I am looking for help and all of yours opinions. I believe my next step is to try PPI's. For info, I am 20 years old. Feel free to ask questions, I will do my best to answer them.
