[iOS] Comments don’t accept markdown formatting, but rich text editor doesn’t include all the formatting options that were removed from markdown [v2026.18.0]
It used to be possible to use markdown to add bulleted lists, numbered lists, and quoted text (among other things) in comments made via the Reddit iOS app.
Now, the app no longer accepts markdown for formatting, and instead has a limited rich text editor option. But that option only has options for bold, italics, strikethrough, title text, and links.
So, a legacy system has been replaced by a new system, but the new system lacks the full functionality of the legacy system it is replacing.
This seems like a fundamentally terrible mode of operation. What middle manager at Reddit decided to ship this change without actually finishing the mobile rich text editor? Are there actual plans to fix it, or should I just re-delete the Reddit app?
