Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a bootstrapped ed-tech platform aimed at helping students connect with high-quality, affordable tutors across subjects. The idea stemmed from the problem many parents and students face—difficulty in finding trustworthy tutors who deliver real value.
Here’s how I’m approaching it:
- We personally onboard and verify each tutor, focusing not just on subject expertise but also their ability to teach effectively.
-Students can book 1:1 sessions or short-term modules (no long-term commitment required).
-We also handle payments, scheduling, and provide an admin dashboard for tutors (working on students dashboard)
-Our goal is to build trust, flexibility, and transparency into the learning process.
-Currently doing outreach via Instagram, WhatsApp groups, and referrals. Growth is slow but organic.
What I’d love your insights on:
- Do you see any major challenges with this approach that I might be missing?
- How would you improve or pivot this model to reach more students or improve tutor quality at scale?
- If you’ve built a marketplace or platform like this before—what are the pitfalls I should prepare for?
- Any creative growth ideas or untapped channels that you think could work in this space?
I’m open to both constructive criticism and bold ideas. The vision is to keep this human, scalable, and impactful.
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.
