So I started skating relatively recently as an adult, I know obviously most people who start that late are never going to be Olympic level or anything, but as I've been delving into youtube for adult competitions and was looking at gold nationals that happened recently to get a frame of reference for a practical goal and what I'd be looking at if I was to eventually compete.
And well, not to talk down or trash to anybody, it was just shockingly low level for what I assumed the top adult competition was at a national level. Which felt really strange to me, because I skate with people at my own rink who started late or are significantly older than most of the people there, and they seem to be skating at a significantly higher level that what I was watching.
So I feel like I must be under some type of misconception about what adult gold is supposed to be, or that there must be somewhere else to see what adult skaters are doing. And wanted to see if anyone else had good examples to watch.
