Have had a difficult experience with a garage and trying to understand if I'm being taken advantage of or not.
I've paid for a full investigation of the clutch system after pedal becoming weightless, first bring hard, then impossible to get in gear over christmas. Garage took in January this year. They advised replacing entire clutch asassembly - I agreed - £500 spent on this. Within 2 months I've had the exact same issue and it's off the road again.
Have gone back to same garage to investigate the issues - as it's their work which hasn't held and hoped it would be covered by previous work.
They've come back, told me it was because of the external slave cylinder which is not part of the clutch and have completed the work without confirming) asking me beforehand. They now want another 230 for pickup, labour and repairs.
Key questions -
Is the external slave cylinder part of the clutch system or is it separate?
Do I have any power to argue the cost against previous work?
Any advice you can give when talking to them?
I hate disagreements/conflict and not dealing with this very well. Would welcome any advice, even if it's suck it up and pay them. Thanks folks.
