Totally burned by “unlimited” eSIM and need alternatives.
I've got few short trips around Asia and North America coming up in June, and currently trying to sort out reliable mobile data before I leave.
On my last trip I went with an “unlimited data” eSIM, but it turned out to be true nightmare: it worked fine at first, then speed dropped so badly that it was almost useless. It was technically still “unlimited” but not in any practical sense: I could barely load maps or use basic apps without waiting forever.
When traveling I don't need much, just stable data for WhatsApp / maps / work chats. In short - normal travel use. And yes, at this point I’d much rather pay for a clear 20-25 GB plan that performs well than gamble on loud ads again.
So, what red flags should I watch for when choosing a plan? Do cheaper eSIM apps come with real privacy concerns, or does quality mostly depend on the local network they connect to?
thanks in advance! Still learning how travel eSIMs work and trying not to make the same mistake twice.
