Google is automatically linking YouTube channels to Google Ads accounts starting June 10, 2026.
According to notices sent to advertisers, if your Google Ads account isn’t already connected to a YouTube channel, Google will automatically link it with the associated channel.
This is actually a pretty significant shift for measurement and targeting.
Once connected, advertisers will get:
• Organic YouTube engagement metrics inside Google Ads
• Audience creation based on video interactions
• Access to “earned actions” like subscriptions and extra views
• Better visibility into how video engagement impacts campaign performance
Feels like Google is pushing engagement-based optimisation much harder now instead of relying only on click/conversion tracking.
A lot of advertisers still ignore YouTube organic data completely, so this move basically makes video engagement part of the default ad ecosystem.
Could also mean:
- More brands focusing on YouTube content strategy
- More use of engagement audiences
- Better attribution for video-assisted conversions
- More overlap between organic and paid reporting
Curious how everyone here sees this.
Do you think combining organic + paid YouTube data will improve campaign optimisation, or just make attribution even messier?
