I’m an active duty military member with about 5 years left until retirement. I’m preparing for a post-Army career as a teacher and I’m trying to get a head start on a master’s now using TA.
I’m specifically looking for recommendations on the best non-licensure M.Ed. / M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction (or similar) that works well with Army Tuition Assistance. A full initial licensure program isn’t realistic right now because I can’t step away from my job for the required 15-week student teaching block, but I plan to do CSP (or an ACP) in my final year to get my actual teaching credentials.
I’ve seen mixed opinions online about school reputation. Some people say certain schools (especially Christian ones) can be frowned upon in public education hiring. I just want to set myself up for success.
Currently considering:
• Liberty University M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction ($290/credit military rate, 8-week sub-terms)
• WGU MSCIN (Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction – competency-based, flat rate per 6-month term)
• AMU/APUS M.Ed. in Teaching ($250/credit)
Does where you went to school actually matter when applying for teaching jobs ?
