hi all, in a bit of crazy situation here.

a few days ago, the building next to mine caught on fire and got completely demolished. my building is not safe to live in at the moment so currently homeless and couch surfing. I was able to retrieve some valuables a couple days ago thanks to an engineer who Facetimed me while in my unit (I’m not allowed in). my unit looked OK, but understandably my living situation for the foreseeable future is very uncertain.

with that being said, I am signed up for a half-marathon next weekend. my training was already kind of going down the drain and the fire certainly doesn’t help anything. I wasn’t able to get any of my running gear from my unit but could probably borrow some. I may have the option to defer it, but would you guys run it still? I already have a lot on my plate with claims to file, as well as submitting an application to get some support from my company, and I am also trying to help my neighbors from the building that got demolished find their cats, as they’ve lost a lot more than me.

on one hand, running it with no time goal in mind could be cathartic and a way to relieve myself during this chaotic time. but, I also feel defeated, knowing that I’m not gonna be able most likely to hit my time goal when I was really hoping to. the past couple months have been hard. I already struggle with feeling slow compared to my peers and I feel I myself haven’t made much progress since last year so I’m pretty sad about it.

I don’t know, I’m not sure what to do, any advice or insight would be really appreciated. thank you.
