Finally got my vintage Seagull railway watch with the black dial, and I absolutely love it.

It arrived in almost NOS condition and is currently running around +40s/day, which I’m very happy with for a vintage mechanical watch. I’m a big fan of both railway culture/history and vintage watches, so this piece is pretty much the perfect combination for me.

Vintage Chinese watches have always fascinated me because they carry so much history from a very specific era of manufacturing and design. What I love most is how honest the watch feels. No fake patina, no retro-inspired marketing story, no forced nostalgia. It’s simply a real product from another era that survived untouched.

The black dial looks even better in person(white or silver dial of this watch are more common). Really glad I finally found one.

Please feel free to drop a comment what you think!

▲ 31 r/coins

I’ve had this coin for many years.

I’ve always found these interesting, not just as silver coins, but also for their long history of being restruck and widely circulated across different regions. The design is quite distinctive, especially the level of details on both sides and on the rim.

I’m still learning more about these, so I’d really appreciate some input from those more experienced:

Does this look like a typical restrike, or anything noteworthy?

How does the condition look to you? (I have cleaned it before…)

Anything I should pay attention to in terms of authenticity or variations?

Would love to hear your thoughts and any insights you might have. Thanks in advance!
