Germany’s 2026 forecast is looking pretty rough
Just saw the latest consensus numbers for Germany’s economy in 2026 and they’re not great.
GDP growth is expected to come in at only 0.66%, while inflation is forecast to rise to 2.72%.
Looking at the chart, growth has been trending down while inflation is moving higher. That’s a tough mix slow growth with rising prices.
Europe’s biggest economy has been struggling for a while now with high energy costs, aging population, bureaucracy, and soft industrial demand. This forecast suggests that pain might continue into next year.
Anyone else following Germany closely? Do you think they’ll manage a decent recovery or are we looking at another year of stagnation?
