I do competitive programming a bit too obsessively (to the point where it's had a slight toll on my grades lol). I'm looking to apply to grad schools (likely masters programs) soon for CS.

I'm looking to do it in either the computational sciences or the more theory side of computer science (algorithms and such). I know research is king but I was wondering whether being top \~0.5% in the world in competitive programming (codeforces) would help my application a non insignificant amount, or if anyone had any advice on how to frame this in my application if at all.

Edit: I also need a funded program, which makes me again wonder if this is anything to "brag" about on my application.
