account hacked and then deactivated
My Twitter/X account was hacked, deactivated, and I was extorted — has anyone recovered from this?
my main account (@applecs2) was hacked earlier today. i'm a professional CS2 caster so this is tied to my entire career and public presence. i had previously verified my identity with a government ID for X Premium, so there should be a record of who i am on their end.
what i've already tried:
- X's standard account recovery flow, can't verify because the hacker changed my email and phone number, keep getting basic "sorry cant verify you" emails back. ive kept sending tickets through
- multiple X support tickets via help.twitter.com/forms/hacked
- my sponsor reached out to X directly through their partnership channel, X told them the account was "locked down" however... i have started to get exported!
- the account has now been fully deactivated, when i try to login i just get an error code about my account not being found.
the extortion: after taking the account they contacted me through my alt demanding $300 in crypto sent to a wallet address in exchange for returning access. i have screenshots of everything.
what i'm looking for: has anyone successfully recovered a hacked and deactivated account? does the ID verification from X Premium help with recovery at all? any escalation paths, contacts, or forms that actually worked?
also — i've already submitted a form with the US government cybercrime division.
