Hello,

I am an undergraduate studying entomology and applied biotechnology. I have long been interested in medical entomology and studying vector borne diseases. I am currently trying to figure out post-graduate plans, and I know at some point I definitely want to go for a PhD. Career wise, I am considering academia, just because I love the idea of teaching and being able to study what you're passionate about.

I am currently struggling to figure out exactly what I want to study as a graduate student. Entomology is the obvious choice, but I am also very interested in a lot of other subjects. For instance, in one of my classes I learned about helminths and how they can suppress auto-immune disorders, which I think is super fascinating. Honestly, I have been considering a PhD in immunology studying this, and I was wondering if anyone here knows any examples of people who have studied immunology and have gone on to research vector borne diseases (like filarial worms, for instance), while still actively working with insect vectors.

And, if anyone has any other advice for grad school, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!
