Do demographics play a role, specifically in LACs?

I got rejected from every LAC i applied to and I’m wondering if these LACs value diversity with transfer apps.

My parents both got their bachelors, and my dad went to a high ranking UC so I’m not first-gen. We’re an upper middle class family and one app made me say where my parents work and my dad works at this top-tier company in medicine. But I also needed aid (even tho I don’t qualify through FAFSA) because I have 2 younger sisters and my mom has medical problems. I’m also white, cis, and straight and was born in the U.S.

..Just wondering if they value diversity a lot.

Did your college matter career-wise

I’m a current transfer student going from a CC to a 4-year and, well, I got rejected from every T25 to T30 I applied for. I committed to my state school, Rutgers University—New Brunswick, and I know it’s respected—but I just am soaked with envy from watching everyone get into these great schools. Especially schools that are amazing for English.

Seriously cannot anymore. Idk what I did wrong. I thought I was a good candidate.

3.98, English Major, Test-Optional, Full Need, PTK, Dean’s List

EC’s
- article writer for club
- editorial internship at women-owned, well-known publication / social media in my state
- competitive summer program at an ivy league
- apart of 5 person student lit. council where I speak at events and host workshops
- playwright for festival where my play is professionally acted out
- teaching assistant / tutoring mentor
- 1-year long internship at this non profit oral history project that documents gentrification (we’ve won a lot of grants + awards I didn’t list because I didn’t know if I should’ve)

LORS
- 1 from my oral history boss / professor
- 1 from the student lit council founder / professor

Essays
- Discussed how english being my safe subject backfired and made me confront my procrastination and mediocrity
- Talked about how important getting on zoloft was for my OCD
- Talked about how I like physical media, building PCs, and decorating everything I own and connected that to the central core of the non profit vision I work for and being a teaching assistant

I’ve gotten rejected from Amherst, Williams, Princeton and waitlisted at Wellesley, BMC. I expect nothing good from Smith, Swarthmore, Brown, and Vassar because 2 are need-aware.

This was my first experience with applying to colleges, when I was in highschool I decided on CC in sophomore and didn’t even try to be a first-year. I kinda had high hopes because I have good EC’s and a good GPA but it doesn’t seem like that mattered all that much.

I’ve seen the same people get into every college while the same people get into none and it’s — people were right when they say it’s a gamble. I honestly didn’t think it’d be that crazy with how it works, but huh I got humbled hardcore

Anyway I committed to Rutgers New Brunswick and it’s a “T30” if you squint and are colorblind
