It seems like more people should live here - it's got a population of just under 2 million. 500,000 of those live in one city, Vladivostok.

Seems to have abundant natural beauty, near(ish) to other population centres in China, Japan, South Korea. Harbin in China with a similar latitude has over 5 million people living there.

I'm sure it get's cold, but does it get that cold?

On paper it looks like it could be a 'Russian California'.
