Vintage mania out of hand

And I mean, it already seemed out of hand twenty years ago. But in the meantime it has become ridicolous.

I was watching ads for second hand gear. A 50 watt Soundcity for 1500 bucks. A Sunn Beta Lead for 1000 and some. Then I watched a Sovtek Mig 100 and it is 1600 bucks. Seriously, WTF?

About pedals, I have discovered that the Boss FZ-2, which was considered shit twenty years ago, now goes for 300+ bucks. Allegedly, Electric Wizard revealed it's the stompbox behind dopethrone sound and the price skyrocketed.

Thing is, at that price point it's just not competitive anymore. I can have a <redacted> for less than 2000 bucks, and it is brand new, point-to-point, with a superior design and superior components, and a superior brand. I am just not going to spend the same money for a battered Soundcity or Sovtek Mig.

This rant is because I have a penchant for finding cheap old stuff that sounds great, but, after a hiatus, I just discovered this hobby is not doable anymore. Any old POS gear solds at stupid price. And I mean ANY.

I am on the hunt for a speaker voiced like a Greenback, but with at least 100 watt. Even better if 150+. And even better if it plays well both with few and a lot of watts pushed in it. This is going into a stereo 2x12, paired with a flatter and darker speaker like an Eminence EV 12 or an Electrovoice.

Until now I have found the Celestion Redback that seems to check the first boxes, not sure about the last. Any recommendation?
