All,
I’ve seen a lot of different answers on questions asked in the past, but I am still a bit confused and was hoping to get some clarification. I am in the USA on a work visa and about to enter into the Express Entry pool. I am very fluent in French and I calculated my score to be 481. 36 year old, married, and have 1 child.

Here are the questions I had:

  1. Do I need to have the required amount for 6 months? Or can I have it for let’s say 3 months and need to still show the average balance for 6 months even if the average balance during the 6 months is way lower than the required amount for proof of funds?
  2. Are investment & retirement accounts (IRA, brokerage account, stocks, 401k) acceptable? Or do all the funds need to be in a checking or savings account?
  3. Are bank statements not acceptable? At least in the USA, these are accepted very broadly. They can also be motorized if needed. So was wondering if by bank letter, they mean bank statements or something else?
  4. For debt, do I need to also list my wife’s debt or is it only my (the applicant) debt

Appreciate you all for taking the time.
