weak immune system and talked to by principal.

this is my first year as a teacher in my own classroom. i subbed last year where my immune system was just as run down. i seem to get sick every other month. i have missed 11 days this year with doctors notes for 8-9 of them. i always turn them in and have them documented so i can’t “get in trouble”. i unfortunately woke up late yesterday and booked it to work.

my principal said she needed to speak with me. she told me that for a first year teacher this is “way too many days” which i agree with but unfortunately my body can’t seem to stay healthy. she told me that if i miss any more days i will be called in, written up, it’ll be put into my file, and the UFT rep will be called in. i was told that since i’m not tenured this isn’t good especially if i’m looking for a position closer to home, which seemed like she was basically telling me she would be telling future principals that i have bad attendance. as she was talking to me she made it seem like i was taking work off for doctors appointments and those can be done after school or on the weekends. my doctors notes are all urgent care and for when i’m sick. on top of it all she said she wasn’t even counting my death days(bereavement) from which i lost my grandmother(very much like my mom) the day after my first mother’s day without her. i apologized and said it wont happen again. we don’t have many school days left but i can’t predict the future.

i had an upper respiratory infection with a double ear infection last week. end of march i had the flu which i haven’t had since i was a kid. i suffer from migraines, missed a day for that. sick in end of january/february. it doesn’t end. sorry for the long rant but any advice and health remedies you can think of let me know.
