I've got a 1997 GMC K1500 with an automatic transmission, and the shifter assembly broke, and it's going to take a couple days to get a new one. I don't have any other vehicle to drive and I have very important appointments every day of the business week. I decided I'll just drive it as is, grabbing the linkage that attaches to the assembly to change between drive modes. It's probably not very safe but I don't really have another option. Opinions?
