Wells Fargo
I closed my account in person at my branch by the Burlingame Fred Meyer on Barbur Blvd. They spent probably 30 minutes trying to discourage me from closing, but then all of sudden allowed me to close my account and give me my remaining balance in cash. A month later they hadn't closed my account, and they had charged me a "cash dispersal feel," whatever that is. When called the 1-800 number, they reversed the charge and closed the account, because the branch had not closed the account, and they were charging a fee???? for me to withdraw funds. I was closing the account because, when I first signed up, they had a $10 minimum balance fee, and in course of my banking with them, they raised both the minimum balance and the fee charge. This is all within 6 months, and they did not notify me. You'd think with the lawsuits and corruption that this bank has been exposed for, that they would get their act together and provide decent service, but no. They just continue with their illegal, corrupt practices. As result of this dumb -3.00 "cash dispersal fee," my credit rating went down 30 points--when I thought the dumb account was closed.
