Hi everyone,

I’m currently evaluating an opportunity for an L5 Business Intelligence Engineer role at Amazon and trying to decide between Seattle and Austin. I’d really appreciate perspectives from people who have worked in either (or both) locations.

Some things I’m trying to understand:

• Career growth / visibility for L5 BIEs
• Work culture and pace differences
• Team/networking opportunities
• Cost of living vs compensation balance
• Long-term stability and internal mobility

Seattle seems like the HQ ecosystem with more opportunities, but Austin looks attractive from a cost-of-living and lifestyle standpoint.

For people already at Amazon — especially in BIE role — which city would you personally choose and why?
