When is someone defined alcoholic?

If someone is drinking every day without fail and revolves a lot of activities around drinking - but still holds a job down and doesnt have it negatively impact large areas of their life - when do they need to seek
Help?

Edit: this is about my partner not myself. I don’t drink more than twice a year really
